In reality there are no wine from the Domaine which is harvested on more than 1 ha of Vineyard, and therefore the quantities of all wines are quite limited. The prices are largely outside of the control of JFC, his ex-cellar prices are not so high – at least if there was some wine left to sell! – but the middlemen continue to make hay while the sun shines.
The 2018 Auxey-Duresses Village has more refinement and purity than the Meursault Rouge, offering gorgeous aromas of red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit with veins of blueberry. The palate is very powerful with huge grip for an Auxey-Duresses that will guarantee its longevity. Quite a masculine red in some ways but totally compelling. One of those bouchard pere & fils chassagne-montrachet wines to grab if you find it for a decent price on a restaurant list, and for me personally, preferable to the aforementioned Meursault. A long wine life indicates a great wine, so we use longevity in our quality assessment, applying a modest weighting. The Classic 1996 Vintage from Coche-Dury stands out as a remarkable year for wine enthusiasts.

Corton-Charlemagne is not even the home turf of Coche-Dury, yet if one can find it, a Charlie from the estate could well match – if not surpass – its legendary Meursault Perrieres. These are Coche-Dury’s two top wines, and frequently the top wines in the appellations as a whole. Domaine Coche-Dury is a rather different kettle of fish. Based in decidedly workmanlike cellars below the most ordinary of suburban houses, it is run today by young Raphaël, who took over the helm from his father Jean-François five years ago.

This boasts good depth and length, though somehow just a little conservative when compared directly with the ensuing vintage. Meursault Les Rougeots exudes intense aromas of honey, toast, and hazelnut. The palate is rich, rounded, and extremely precise. This wine should be aged for 10 years before drinking. Aromas of sweet red cherries, raspberries and spices introduce the 2022 Meursault Rouge, a medium-bodied, satiny and lively red with a pretty core of fruit and good persistence on the finish.

The 2015 vintage from Coche-Dury stands out for its exceptional quality and vibrant character, largely attributed to the meticulous craftsmanship that defines this esteemed winery. This particular year was marked by a favorable growing season in Burgundy, which allowed for the optimal development of flavors and aromas in the grapes. The result is a wine that not only reflects the terroir but also the skillful techniques employed during its production. The hard Comblanchian limestone which disappears deep underground around Nuits-Saint-Georges reappears here where, as one moves southward, red wines give way to whites.
