During my schooling I was fortunate to be able to work and volunteer as a student kinesiology, athlete health liaison , and high school sports coach. At the age of 19, I became a Commercial Helicopter Pilot, flying for 6 years back home in Australia. I also spent a few years teaching Aerodynamics and other Aviation courses to the military as a Helicopter Theory Instructor. My most recent experience in the health and fitness industry extends back 7 years as a boxing coach and fitness trainer, managing gyms and fitness studios in Australia and Vancouver. Before attending VCMT, I completed a Kinesiology degree at the University of the Fraser Valley. During this time I also worked as a Recreation Worker, leading and facilitating various programs for children and youth.

I want to become an RMT mainly because I want to help people professionally to promote health and wellness. It’s a very fulfilling feeling to be able to make a change in someone’s health. My favourite thing about the college is the sense of community and support. I also love the board that’s filled with positive quotes and affirmations which I always find enlightening.
Massage Therapy was a very effective treatment for my injuries which made me want to pursue it as my career and help people. My health history is complex, and over the years I have always found that staying active empowers me to feel strong. I want to become an RMT to help others reduce or altogether heal injuries that limit their ability to stay physically active. To continue to help people and to expand my knowledge of health and wellness from a holistic perspective.

Prior to pursuing massage therapy, I was working in office furniture sales. I am grateful for my experience in this industry as it introduced me to ergonomics which was a stepping stone on my way to massage therapy. The main reason I am drawn to a career as an RMT is to promote and encourage the health goals of others. Becoming an RMT will allow me to help people in my community and help me to further my education and grow as an RMT.
